I am Sheila, the wife of Don Treader, a mother of 3 and someone who has had a rich experience of life – its good and its bad times. As a committed Christian of many years, I have found that Jesus has never let me down, indeed my faith has enabled me to overcome. Being blind from birth, coping with young motherhood (and Don Treader), a debilitating kidney disease in middle ageĀ which resulted in two transplants (the latest of which is working well for which I am so thankful to God ) – my faith and energy has been severely stretched, but never overwhelmed.
Throughout all this I gained a BD Honours Degree in Practical Theology and New Testament, a Doctorate focusing on Loss and Bereavement, various qualifications including a Diploma in Counselling(Bereavement, Couple, etc.) and became a member of the British Association Of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP ). I now work as a volunteer Person Centred Counsellor with a local agency and see private clients and other counsellers for supervision.
One of my greatest loves in life was my precious Guide Dog, Helen, with her furry ears and endearing ‘nudge’. She gave me a freedom I had never experienced before. Her recent passing has left me sad and feeling incomplete again. She was such a loving creature I called her my ‘furry guardian angel’ She worked perfectly and was extremely sensitive and considerate in her dealings with me and with all the family. She is a sore loss and is greatly missed
Life has its ups and downs and I hope that my experiences and my faith will make my link with Uplift Christian Fellowship of some value and benefit to others.
